Details

The museum exhibits more than two hundred items that once belonged to the historic Scuola dei Merletti, but it also gives visitors the chance to visually appreciate the technique used to make the famous Burano lace. Every morning, in fact, lacemakers who are still active in the lagoon are present in the museum to give visitors a real-life taste of the refined technique used to make this precious craft.

The Lace Museum also houses artefacts dating from the 16th to the 20th century, all of original Venetian manufacture, and an archive that is available to scholars, rich in historical documentation, with drawings and photographs from various periods.
