Why is it important?

The Venice Boat Show is more than just an exhibition – it’s a bridge between the city’s glorious maritime past and the challenges of the future. It reaffirms Venice’s role as a capital of maritime culture, attracting tourists, investors, industry professionals, and dreamers alike. It’s also a unique opportunity to explore Venice by sea, surrounded by history, innovation, and beauty.

How did it all begin?

The idea of a boat show in Venice was born from the desire to restore the city’s central role in the global nautical scene. After some earlier initiatives, the first edition of the current Venice Boat Show launched in 2019, promoted by the City of Venice and organized by Vela Spa, in collaboration with the Italian Navy, which grants access to the magnificent Arsenale venue.

The goal was to create a modern and sustainable event that would highlight contemporary boating while honoring Venice’s rich naval heritage. With its Renaissance architecture and historic dockyards, the Arsenale proved to be the ideal setting to connect past, present, and future on the water.

Over the years, the show has grown steadily in scope, visibility, and international relevance – becoming one of Europe’s leading events for boating and marine innovation.
